Six Year Old Girl Found Dead Inside Old Microwave

I wonder sometimes if people realize just how dangerous it is to leave old appliances like ovens or refrigerators abandoned where children could possible be playing. When I first heard about this case I had to ask myself, how could a 6 year old child fit inside a microwave oven to begin with? I read more on the case to find out it was an old industrial type microwave just thrown out. Well it certainly is possible. Six year old … Continue reading

Sunday Afternoon Murder Club

The illustrious members of the Sunday Afternoon Murder Club, Simon and Jan Barrett, Mannie Barling, Denny Griffin, Dave Knechel and William Cobra Staubs will be holding ‘court’ on the recent developments in a number of crime cases. We have an update on the Casey Anthony saga. Sideshows are popping up all over the place, and just like Casey Anthony herself, it is difficult to figure out fact from fiction. I have to admit that I am surprised at how quiet … Continue reading

Google Dumps ToolBar For Firefox

…And the world cheers….. The world is awash in damn toolbars, everyone and their dog has one. Most people do not use them, in fact most people do not even know what they do. They eat up screen real estate and offer little in return. I used to teach a series of classes on Microsoft Word, which was at the time the toolbar king. I would demonstrate to the class, the more useful ones, and then load the rest. On … Continue reading

Casey Anthony’s Attorney’s Wife Complains About Threatening Phone Calls

Jose Baez and Cheney Mason seem to have shown pride in what I call managing to get a murderer off the hook in the eyes of the law. Jose Baez claims that the public needs to learn to respect the laws and accept the juror’s verdict in the case when they found Casey not guilty of murdering her two year old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony. Well has he heard anything about what some of those jurors are saying now? Has … Continue reading

There Are Some Things That You Just Could Not Lie About

I spend a good deal of my time reading press releases. Most are so boring that I wonder why people even bother to send them out. But occasionally you stumble on a BIG ONE. Lets face it, when the opening paragraph reads: The Oregonian reported 7.8 million gallons of drinking water had to be drained from the Oregon reservoir after a urinary incident. They drained the water after security cameras recorded a 21-year-old man allegedly urinating Wednesday into the Mount … Continue reading

DVD Review: Rick Wakeman – Made In Cuba

I am a Rick Wakeman fan, and I heard about this DVD, but like many aspects concerning Cuba it has taken 6 years for it to make it to the US market. The concert happened in 2005, and Rick Wakeman was joined by his band the New English Rock Ensemble. In some ways this concert could be viewed more as a political statement than anything else. Cuba is hardly the stopping point on any major musicians tour route. The Karl … Continue reading

The National Enquirer At It’s Finest

There is something unique about the Enquirer, it will leave no potential sordid story alone. I can only assume that it has been a slow week for Elvis sightings and JFK once again refused an exclusive interview from his Dachau just outside Moscow. The folks at the Enquirer know a story when they see it. And the hot ticket in town this week is Casey Anthony. They have ‘tested the water’ with the Casey Anthony before, and at least one … Continue reading

Can You Name This Trio?

This picture apparently was taken on July 16th in Orlando Florida. It is not an Ansel Adams work, but it is interesting. Can you name them? And more importantly, why would they have been meeting? It is an interesting triumvirate that one would think might have very different individual goals. Only time will tell. Simon Barrett

Book Reviewing – Gaming Amazon – Only The Author Loses

I am a professional book reviewer, I use the term in the classic version. I know what I am doing. I actually read the book, I think about it, then I apply fingers to keyboard. Alas, this seems to be a dieing art. Increasingly the world of book reviews has become an online ‘arms race’. Any idiot with half a brain and absolutely no common sense can become a book reviewer. Of course there is the question of where might … Continue reading
