A 28 year old, mother of two, Susan Powell from West Valley City, Utah has been reported missing. At first the whole family seemed to be missing but the husband, Joshua Powell and the couple’s two children resurfaced but Susan is still missing.
Susan’s disappearance has caused some suspicions because according to her father, Charles Cox, she wouldn’t have just left without telling someone. Cox made a public plea to his daughter, “Please contact us. Please let us know you’re OK. She’s a very outgoing and positive person. And it’s very odd that she would be missing in that way that she’s missing.”
Susan’s father says that the family had a friend over for dinner but around 5 pm Susan said she wasn’t feeling well so she went to lie down. Cox goes on to say that Josh took the kids out sledding after that and a friend saw him back home around 8:30 that night. Later that night Josh supposedly took their two children ages 2 and 4 camping overnight.
Josh’s parents called the police the next day when the children didn’t show up at day care and neither Josh nor Susan showed up at work. When the police investigated the call they broke into the home by smashing in the front window as they suspected that maybe they had been poisoned by carbon monoxide inside the home but they found the house empty yet the family’s minivan was missing.
When Joshua returned home with the kids his wife was not home. The next day he called susan’s father. “He told me that she was missing and he was, it sounded, a little broken up, was broken up about it so I don’t know,” says Cox. Everyone that knows Susan that police have talked to are concerned because they all say she would have never left her kids like this.
Even after questioning Josh West Valley police Lt. Tom McLachlan says, “It’s extremely strange. We have a lot of questions. We, right now, aren’t getting a lot of answers.
