The NFL Football player, Chris Henry died after he fell out of the back of a pick up truck. He was in Charlotte North Carolina and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say he died at 6:36 am Thursday morning. Henry was only 26 years old.
Apparently it all started during a domestic dispute at a home about a half mile away from here he fell when he jumped into the back of the truck which his fiancé was driving away in when she left the residence.
At some point while she was driving he fell out of the back of the truck. He was found on a residential road and apparently was suffering life threatening injuries and he was the rushed to the hospital Wednesday night.
Police said they wouldn’t identify the woman and that at that time no charges had been filed against her. “Detectives continue to work diligently on this active investigation,” police said in a statement Thursday.
I is reported that Henry was engaged to Loleini Tonga and they had been raising three children together. Tonga has a MySpace page and on it she calls herself Mrs. C. Henry and there is a picture of her next to someone that looks just like Henry. She posted on her page Tuesday talking about buying wedding rings. According to a neighbor Tonga’s family owns the home Henry was in when the fight began.
Throughout Henry’s career his temper and poor decisions seem to have gotten him into a lot of trouble. He was away from the football team after he broke his forearm in a game with Baltimore on November 8. They had to do surgery on his arm and he was placed on season ending injured reserve following the game.
Henry had been arrested for a fifth time on an assault charge and because of his prior history the Bengals decided they had had enough and decided to release him. Since he has dreamed of an NFL career since high school this was a real jolt to him. He couldn’t find another team that was interested in him and it looked as though this was the end of his career until the Bengal’s owner Mike Brown decided to give him a second chance.
“If you only knew him by hearsay, you’d think he’s some kind of ogre,” said Brown. “It’s not true. He is a good person. When you see him up close you’ll find that you like him. He’ll be a soft spoken, pleasant person.”
Henry changed his personal life and was spending more time with his fiancé and the three kids he and she were raising. Even his teammates started noticing a change in his demeanor.
My heart goes out to Chris Henry’s family for there loss. This time of year makes losing a love one even harder.
